What is CVD Diamond?

CVD diamond (Synthetic diamond, Chemical vapor deposition diamond, laboratory grown diamond) is diamond produced in an artificial process, as opposed to natural diamonds created by geological processes.

Unlike the HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) method, the CVD process creates a carbon plasma over a substrate onto which carbon atoms deposit to form diamond. This occurs at pressures typically under 27 kPa.

Key Advantages: Ability to grow over large areas, precise control over chemical impurities, and tailored properties for industrial applications.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between CVD diamond and natural diamond?
CVD diamond is synthetically produced in a laboratory using chemical vapor deposition, whereas natural diamonds are formed by geological processes. However, CVD diamonds share the same physical and chemical properties as natural diamonds, including high strength and hardness.
What are the primary applications of these diamonds?
They are widely used for cutting tools for non-ferrous materials, wheel dressers, optical windows, heat sinks (thermal management), wire drawing dies, and as seeds for growing further CVD diamonds.
How high is the thermal conductivity?
Our CVD diamonds can achieve a thermal conductivity of more than 1800 W/mK, making them excellent for electronic heat spreaders and high-power laser applications.
Can I order custom sizes or shapes?
Yes, while we have standard square and round sizes ranging from 1mm to 11mm, we provide full customization for specific shapes and thicknesses (0.1mm to 3mm) to meet your project requirements.
What is the typical lead time for an order?
Usually, orders are processed and shipped within 3 to 7 working days following the confirmation of your deposit.
What grades of CVD diamond do you offer?
We provide various grades including Industrial Grade, Optical Grade, Electronic Grade, and Thermal Conduction Grade, each optimized for specific performance needs.
